When working in AVD, all your saved work is stored in AVD. It is not saved to your host device. Below are step by step instructions on how to save and hand in/share your files.

Tip: Students have 30GB of space allocated to them in AVD so use your space wisely (psst – you have unlimited space in your Google Drive!)

Step-by-step:

  1. Within the software you are using click on File > Save As and select the Desktop or Documents to save your work to. Make sure you are saving it to the AVD Desktop or Document folders.
    • Tip: Create new folders on your AVD desktop by right-clicking on the AVD desktop and selecting New Folder. Double click on the New Folder name to rename it
  2. To hand in or share your file, open up Chrome within the AVD Desktop (not with your host device).
  3. Sign in to your Google Drive within AVD
  4. Upload & share your work to your Google Drive (Google Drive and AVD | Tech@Home)
Please note that all your saved files in AVD will be deleted as soon as your course is over. Should you wish to save any work, ensure that you save it somewhere else before your course has ended. You can save your work to Google Drive or Memory stick.

OneDrive

OneDrive is a new product to us and we don’t know all the ins and outs of it yet. It is not recommended that the OneDrive website is used for your file management at this time. OneDrive is operating in the background and syncing our work accordingly. Anything saved to AVD (i.e in your Desktop, Documents or Downloads folders) is automatically synced by OneDrive.

We do recommend you continue to use Google Drive as your main source for uploading and downloading files.

Google Drive App

The Google Drive App (formerly known as Google File Sync) can be unstable at times and might affect application performance. It is not recommended that the Google Drive App is used for your file management at this time.

We do recommend you continue to use Google Drive as your main source for uploading and downloading files.
